The Mi-Young LEE method is based on pedagogical principles based on 4 axes:
Classes are aimed at people of all ages.
For young children, the following points are included in the lessons:
At what age can one learn to play the piano? This is a question we are often asked. Mi-Young LEE started at the age of 4 and other great pianists started later. It is important for the child to be able to concentrate enough to enjoy the class. So 5 years old seems to be the most suitable age.
We then form homogenous groups so that each child feels comfortable during the lesson.
We often think that a one-to-one lesson is more effective than a group lesson and that it is better to have 20 minutes of individual tuition than one hour with other students.
What is true for older students does not apply to children under 10 years old. Our experience shows us that a certain amount of emulation allows children to concentrate better, to find additional motivation to play the piano and to persevere in overcoming the difficulties they will inevitably encounter throughout their learning.
Playful and progressive exercises will allow children to quickly become autonomous in the reading of the two keys essential for learning the piano. The school has adapted the TAKADEMI method and now uses it as a learning base.
Moreover, PIANO ACADEMIE has developed playing cards that allow to learn music theory while having fun!
We want that from the earliest age children learn to love not only classical music but also to be able to associate works with composers.
We therefore think it is important that children know the lives of great composers, and may want to deepen their curiosity together with their parents.
Thanks to our partnership with the online piano lessons site www.e-pianoworld.com we allow all our students to review each of their lessons at home.
Each day, a lesson of about 5 minutes is then offered to them to repeat what they have learned with their teacher.
All they have to do is put the tablet on the piano and follow the teacher’s instructions!
Parents can then easily participate and help the children to make this work fun.
